artists signed on the label::Bowie (post-tin machine/black tie lp) Silver Bullet (guillotine),Maxi Jazz (pre-faithless), Cut2kill (liam pre-porridgy!) Westworld,,homeboy+hippie+funkidredd,sir mixalot! and still criminally underrated former gospel singer Precious Wilson of Eruption disco fame(still the biggest vocal range and best tessiture in the business including mary J or A.Winehouse ! mismanaged browbeating pop band soho (of hippychick fame) thru 2 albums on virgin and atco. Then the whole Def Jam (hiphop) and Chicago DJ International and Trax (house) wave of releases were a groundbreaking LOUD bass drum kick in the arse.MUSIC was not the sole prerogative of musicians any more. Self-expression became available to the masses. Drum machines appeared the 808 then the 909 and massive synth TB-303 basslines were the signature to what was happening.New artists were emerging and breaking all rules, the word HYBRIDATION resumes best the lava that was bubbling. Creative times my friends, a record was not just some consumerist shit it was about mapping uncharted territories.This wasn't "Entertainment" or "Artistic posture" it was more like a punk statement Run Dmc/ the Beasties(license to ill), Big Audio Dynamite, Eric b and rakim/ Bombthebass/ KLF/ Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Then in the triumphant blairist 90's, the pension funds and the accountants took control of the record companies,mergers galore. Exit the signing of bands/musicians on artistic criteria, risk taking was out if your first single did'nt get airplay on the radio,you were dropped by the company within weeks,your album not released or minimally. so....f...k that.

Giorgio Moroder:Midnight Express ost, Vangelis:the 666 album+ the Blade Runner ost, Afrika Bambaata Planet rock, Most of the MUTE and ZTT labels recordings, Pascal Gabriel, Barry Adamson, Hoodlum Priest, Clint Mansell: Requiem for a dream OST, Pet Shop Boys, Magazine, Propaganda, Flood, Colourbox, SPK,Amon Duul II, Goblin(film scores) Mantronix early stuff, Roxy Music first 2 albums(the Eno era ) , Nigel Lackey (SOHO) UK Hausmeister and sampler extraordinaire, John Fryer, The Tinley bros, dr Dre and anything with some early badass synth sounds with waves, bleeps and clonks.(arp,moog,fairlight,prophet etc) and early drum machines,and of course synth maestro Vince Clarke(d.mode/yaz/erasure) and any elektro instrumental.
