(contenu en anglais)I've been using the Yamaha GB-1 acoustic grand piano for about four years. This is one of the low end models made by Yamaha in terms of acoustic pianos, but don't be fooled - this is a great sounding and great feeling piano. The sound quality of the Yamaha GB-1 is extremely full and rich all across the board. It has your three basic pedals, including sustain, and is a full 88 key piano. The overall finish and look to the piano is beautiful and would also make a great furniture piece if you are looking for that. However, I use this piano in the studio and it works extremely well for this application. I love the sound I get from this when I record, and I find that putting two Shure SM81s at opposite ends of the piano, and putting a Neumann U87 in the middle get you an extremely full bodied piano sound that sounds great on its own for solo piano pieces, as well as for overdubs for rock or pop music. Even though the Yamaha GB-1 is at the low end of the spectrum in terms of price, it is still pretty expensive, as is the case with most grand pianos. For this reason I would recommend to serious players who are looking for a long term piano that will last a long time. The Yamaha GB-1 acoustic piano is a great product for recording, live shows (if you really want to lug around a real acoustic piano), or simply for practicing and home use. Yamaha began manufacturing pianos, and they have been doing for over a hundred years, so they really know what they are doing when in comes to piano. Overall, I highly recommend this piano for all interested in getting an acoustic grand piano.22
