TASCAM's DS-M7.1 is the only digital surround monitor solution, making it ideal for DVD-Audio music production, game development and post-production audio mixing. With audio resolution up to 96kHz/24-bit, the DS-M7.1's digital inputs in ADAT, AES/EBU and TDIF formats allow you to forgo costly D/A converters in your DAW mixing system. It adds multi-speaker monitoring control to digital consoles and DAWs, inlcuding a calibrated monitor level control. The DS-M7.1 duplicates the output buses of digital consoles, routing the signal to both a stem recorder and multiple amplifier/speaker combinations.
The DS-M7.1 supports surround formats from LCRS up to 7.1 -- including 5.1 and 6.1 formats -- with the ability to downmix to mono or stereo from any surround format to check your mix on a smaller system. Individual outputs can be soloed or muted, allowing the engineer to check what is going to a particular channel. A stereo control room input allows you to bypass the DS-M7.1 surround routing when mixing in stereo. It adds switching between two sources for checking between thhe stem recorder and console out or monitoring an independant source. At a street price under ",000, the DS-M7.1 is the only serious choice for monitoring digital surround audio.
