    Sérieusement mic bonne ...

Large diaphram tube condenser with power supply. This thing speaks for itself. The 251 is no cheap mic, and I write this review with that in mind. From what I understand these are super rare. I co-manage a studio with a couple of friends of mine who produce. A guy contacted us wanting to sell this for about 4k I believe. He offered to bring it in and let us test so we did. We honestly didn't know much else about it. We ended up buying it though and that right there should tell you something.

The 251 is simply put...that sound you are looking for. It has those huge lows and ever present mids that people dream of when they think of an outstanding vocal performance. We have had ours for about a year now and I would estimate we use it for 80% of the singers that come into the studio. It seems to like all kinds of voices. But it doesn't just do vocals. We frequently use it as a room mic for drums and guitar and even gang vocals. Bock has created something timeless with this mic.

    OVERALL OPINION

I think I would own one for my home studio if I could find one but they seem to be semi-difficult to find at any reasonable price. It's such a solid feeling and sounding mic in every facet of the word that it's hard to say anything else is better. The manager of our studio to this day says it was the best 4k he ever spent. We want to get another. It's just that good. If you're serious about vocals...this is the one. I'm telling you. It's hard to beat the 251, if you can get a hold of one. Alternatively there are a few Neumman mics and some of the Manley condensers that keep up quite nicely in the same price range.

The Bock Audio 252 is a large diaphragm tube condenser microphone that is designed for use in the recording studio.  I would recommend only keeping and using this guy in the studio as it is expensive and fragile.  The microphone comes with a power supply and a shock mount.  It is also modeled after the Telefunken 251.

    OVERALL OPINION

Having used both the Bock Audio 251 and the original Telefunken 251, I can confidently say that the Bock Audio 251 is a great replication of this classic mic.  While it doesn't sound exactly the same, it sound quite close and I bet that if you were to do a shoot out that you would have a tough time telling the difference.  The microphone has an extremely warm sound and is really the perfect microphone as it picks up all of the details that you would want for vocals.  It will work great in just about any situation that you would a mix of clarity and warmth, which is usually what I am going for with most of the sounds that I am trying to get.  This is an absolutely awesome sounding mic and is the cheapest way to get the 251 sound as even though it is still incredibly expensive, it only costs about half the price of an original Telefunken 251.  While I still prefer the Telefunken version of the microphone (even if it is because of the name and the look), the Bock Audio 251 is an incredible microphone.  Because of this hefty price tag I can't say that I would recommend it to home studio owners, but would absolutely recommend it for professional studio owners looking for an all purpose and go to microphone to whip out for the big sessions.  The Bock Audio 251 is a special microphone and is one that should definitely be checked out if you are looking for a top tier tube condenser microphone.
