Atlas Sound's SB11WE boom microphone stand is an extremely heavy duty and high quality microphone stand that I have experience using in the recording studio. If you've read any of my other reviews on Atlas Sound products, you probably already know that I'm crazy about the stands that they make. Hands down I think they make the best stands out there for recording studios. The SB11WE in particular is one of their best stands for sure. It probably has the most versatility of any of the Atlas Sound mic stands that I've used as it can be used in a variety of different ways. It has an adjustable boom and has a triangle base that has three wheels.
OVERALL OPINION
A few of the applications that I've used the Atlas Sound SB11WE for include lead vocals and drum overheads. These were pretty much the default drum overhead microphone stands in the studio that I used them at, and definitely have to say that I think that is the best application for them. They hang the mics down perfectly over a kit and it makes it extremely easy to place it in any which way that you'd like. Another application I think that this stand would be absolutely perfect for it for recording a string quartet, orchestra, or any set of string players. However, I haven't used it for this type of use as of yet, but drawing from my use with it for other applications, I really think they'd be the perfect mic stands for it. As always with Atlas Sound products, you're going to be paying a bit more than you would for your everyday mic stands, but if you're a professional looking for the best stands you can get it is definitely worth the extra change. In fact, I think the stand will pay for itself when you realize that you'll never be able to knock over a microphone stand again! Think of the money you'd have saved if only you hadn't broken that very expensive mic! The Atlas Sound SB11WE is really the ultimate mic stand.
