The Toshiba 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive is a simple storage device that I've got experience using only in this capacity. I haven't used it in a capacity where I would be running sessions off of it, as I've used it strictly for music storage purposes for a music publishing job that I have. The drive is really basic but does a great job for what it is. It only has a mini USB port on it and doesn't require external power as it gets it from the USB bus. You can use the drive for either Mac or PC computers as I've currently got it configured to be compatible with both. The Toshiba 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive is definitely best suited for home computer users who want some extra space in addition to their computer's internal drive. It's perfect for storing music, photos, or whatever else you might want to have on here. It would also be a great back up drive. The reason it's best for this rather than running Pro Tools or other music sessions off of it is because it is indeed portable and gets it's power from the USB port rather than an external source. I haven't tried to use it for a session, but I really don't think it would be the best for this due to the aforementioned reasons. 500 GB is a nice size for a drive of this compact nature as well and should be able to hold most of a basic computer user's files. For me I use it as an AIFF drive for our company's library. No matter what you want to store on it, the Toshiba 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive is a great little drive for all storage purposes!
