« A very, very affordable monitor... »

The Pyle Pro PASC12 is a 12 inch floor monitor with horn, capable of dealing 600 watts peak, and 300 watt RMS. It is one of the highest power-rated, cheapest floor monitors out there, and I was concerned about the quality of this product when I first bought it. But for the cheap price (around $80, including shipping), I had to try it out.

It has three sets of inputs: banana plugs, 1/4" speaker, and Speakon connectors. Both the 1/4" and the Speakon connectors are dual (for input and output), and the banana plug is a single (a black and red connector for a single speaker signal). The floor monitor has two handles on the sides for easy moving, and it is relatively easy to pick up and move. Not light, but certainly not heavy for it's power output. The compression horn driver (a 10" by 18" in size) is completely exposed and is not covered by any screen or metal mesh, which is certainly odd. This makes it very easy to damage if you are not careful. You can literally reach your fingers all the way inside of it, where there are fragile parts. The main 12" speaker (with 2" Kapton voice coil) does have a screen covering it, but it moves very easily when stepped on. Certainly, you could not step on this screen in any fashion, and it does little good to protect the speaker other than for minor things.

But the sound and power output of this floor monitor is amazing. For my band practice, they sound great, and sound just as good as my other speakers and floor monitors. No noticeable artifacts, noise, or off-balanced equalization. These speakers do seem fragile, and I would not recommend them if you have to move them frequently, like for live sound setups. I use them strictly for band practice in my home, and for that use, they are great. Be sure to check them out, and hear for yourself!
