The Yamaha Pacifica 120SD is another winner from the Pacifica series. It's based on a Telecaster design, but is loaded with dual humbuckers to offer a nice taste of that thicker Gibson esque sound. Specs wise, it features an alder body, a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and 22 frets, standard sealed tuners and a six saddle hardtail bridge. Pickup wise its loaded with a pair of Yamaha humbuckers wired to a single volume and tone along with a 3 way pickup selector. It's a great ax for getting the Fender feel and the Gibson tone on the cheaper side of the spectrum.

UTILIZATION

The design of this guitar is reasonably ergonomic. It's a bit heavier than some of the other Pacificas I've tried and there's not really the same amount of contouring. It owes more to the plank style Tele than the sleek and smooth Strat, and this yields in a thicker and more biting tone due to the extra wood mass that's left. The upper fret access is great on these guitars considering they're basically Teles - you can get up to the 22nd fret fairly easily. Getting a good sound out of this guitar is pretty easy. It doesn't have a ton of switching options, but it's versatile enough I find for many styles of music.

SOUNDS

This guitar sounds pretty cool for a variety of styles. Whether playing clean or distorted, the tones are thick and punchy, much like a Gibson. Incidently, my guitar was loaded with a pair of Gibson ceramic humbuckers when I purchased it, so it had a much better tone to it, very Les Paul esque. I later bought a second one with Yamaha pickups in it, and there is a marked improvement for sure. The stock pickups don't have the same girth to them I find. However the core tones of the guitar are great for anything from jazz to blues to rock and whether you're playing clean or distorted this guitar is quite responsive and offers a nice balance between Gibson thickness and Fender brightness.

OVERALL OPINION

All in all I think the Yamaha Pacifica 120SD is a great buy for anyone looking for a nice Tele style guitar with great humbucker tones within. It is a quality instrument that has a nice stripped down look, great natural feel and excellent tones all around. These can be had for under $200 used if you look, and if you can get one and swap out the pickups for some Gibson, Duncan or DiMarzio, you've got a guitar that can hang with a USA Fender!
La Yamaha Pacifica 120SD est une autre gagnante de la série Pacifica. Elle est basée sur un design de Telecaster, mais montée avec deux humbuckers pour se rapprocher d'un son plus épais à la Gibson.  Les spécificités sont justes, elle dispose d'un corps en aulne, un manche en érable avec une touche palissandre 22 frettes, des mécaniques standards scellées et un chevalet de selle six hardtail. Ramassage de ses sages chargé avec une paire de humbuckers Yamaha câblé à un seul volume et le ton avec un sélecteur 3 voies de ramassage. C'est une grande hache pour obtenir la sensation Fender et Gibson sur le ton le moins cher côté du spectre.

UTILISATION

Le design de cette guitare est raisonnablement ergonomique. C'est un peu plus lourd que certains des autres Pacifica J'ai essayé et il n'y a pas vraiment la même quantité de contournage. Il doit plus à un style planche de Tele que le début épuré et lisse, et cela donne un ton plus épais et plus mordant en raison de la masse de bois supplémentaire qui est à gauche. La case plus haute d'accès est grande sur ces guitares considérant qu'elles sont fondamentalement Teles - vous pouvez obtenir jusqu'à la 22e frette assez facilement. Obtenir un bon son de cette guitare est assez facile. Il n'a pas une tonne d'options de commutation, mais il est assez polyvalent je trouve de nombreux styles de musique.

SONORITÉS

Cette guitare sonne assez cool pour une variété de styles. Que vous jouiez propre ou déformé, les tons sont épais et punchy, un peu comme une Gibson. Incidemment, ma guitare a été chargé avec une paire de humbuckers céramique Gibson quand je l'ai acheté, donc il avait un ton beaucoup mieux qu'elle, très Les Paul esque. Plus tard, j'ai acheté un second avec des micros Yamaha en elle, et il ya une nette amélioration à coup sûr. Les micros d'actions n'ont pas le périmètre même de les trouver. Cependant les tonalités fondamentales de la guitare sont excellents pour quoi que ce soit du jazz au blues au rock, et si vous jouez propre ou déformée de cette guitare est assez réactif et offre un bel équilibre entre l'épaisseur et la luminosité Gibson Fender.

AVIS GLOBAL

Dans l'ensemble je pense que la Yamaha Pacifica 120SD est un excellent achat pour ceux qui recherchent une guitare Tele joli style avec des tons humbucker grande à l'intérieur. C'est un instrument de qualité qui a un joli look épuré, une grande sensation naturelle et des tons excellents tout autour. Ceux-ci peuvent se le procurer pour moins de 200 $ utilisé si vous regardez, et si vous pouvez en obtenir un et à échanger les micros Gibson pour certains, Duncan ou DiMarzio, vous avez une guitare qui peut se bloquer avec une Fender Etats-Unis!
