The Fender Deluxe Nashville tele is one of the more versatile teles that Fender has to offer in the Mexican lineup. This features the standard tele features that everybody knows and loves -- the alder body, maple neck with your choice of rosewood or maple, 21 frets, medium C shaped neck, medium sized frets, etc. However, this guitar actually has a middle pickup for added versatility. It also has a five position switch to get the most out of these pickups.
UTILIZATION
I'm actually a pretty big fan of the MIM guitars considering how cheap they are on the used market. They're very solid players, and this is no exception. The fretwork on this model wasn't too bad. There were some sharp edges, but it's somewhat to be expected in the MIM lineup. The overall guitar was put together very well. Everything feels just like it would if you had a normal tele, and I find the middle pickup doesn't really get in the way, but that totally depends on the player.
SOUNDS
The stock pickups in this are pretty crappy. I recommend replacing them if you're looking at this model. Once you do, this guitar really comes alive. The guitars tend to resonate very well given their price range, and the added middle pickup gives you that great Stratocaster "quack" that has become so famous in the rock world.
OVERALL OPINION
If you're on the hunt for a more versatile tele that doesn't break the bank, this is a model worth checking out. It's a solid player's guitar, and they go for a nice price in the used market. You'll want to replace the pickups, but that's not a huge deal. I highly recommend trying one out before you buy as the fretwork can be iffy depending on how the luthiers were feeling at that particular time of day.
