UTILIZATION

This Tele Deluxe is a nice throwback to the older Telecasters of the 1970s. The guitar oozes vintage styling, with 2 covered Fender humbuckers, 4 knobs, and a 3 way toggle switch, ala Les Paul guitars. The aim of the original Telecaster Deluxe was to compete with Gibson on their features, but offer them in a Tele package, and it was a big success. The guitar is still as cool now as it was then, and it plays very well to boot!

SOUNDS

The covered humbuckers get a nice, mellow tone, which compliments classic rock, blues, slide playing, Motown, and even jazz very well. The switching setup makes the guitar respond tonally just like a Les Paul would, and that is a wonderful thing.

OVERALL OPINION

This guitar was meant for soulful playing. The neck just begs for string bends and vibratos, and the smooth singing nature of the pickups gives this axe a great edge in soloing. For anyone that loves the LP tone, but would like a bit brighter cut and Fender feel, this is a great choice.
