« The preamps are excellent »

The RME Babyface connects to a computer via usb 2.0 port. At first I was not too sure why this interface would be so expensive because it is very small. But the quality of it and the converters are great. For this unit to be so small and portable I didn’t expect to get two great preamps.
UTILIZATION
This interface comes with Total mix FX that has parametric EQ’s and some echo and reverb to add to your recordings. This interface also offers low latency as well. It will work with both Mac and PC computers and the sample rates are 32, 44.1, 48, 64, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4, 192 kHz.
GETTING STARTED
There are 2 XLR line inputs and 1 optical or SPDIF optical input. The BabyFace seems to have all of the perfect combination of effects to get great quality recordings, and the interface is very small and portable so why would anyone need to get a “bigger” interface? I think this interface could work for any home musicians as long as they do not need more inputs and simultaneous recording.
OVERALL OPINION
Setting it up is very easy as long as your computer is running a Core 2 system. There are also MIDI ports too, this interface can be purchased in white/silver and a blue color but it is all about preference because both units have the same specs.
The microphone preamps are by far the best part about this interface. For it to be so small, the preamps are individually controlled with a 48V phantom power switch. Since this interface comes with software, you can control pretty much all of the settings with the software that is provided. It only takes a few minutes to install the drivers and software to start using it right away. As long as your computer meets the specs you can use this interface with any DAW.
