The Korby Audio Technologies KAT 4 System is the most versatile microphone I've ever used without a doubt! It's a large diaphragm tube condenser microphone, but the catch is that it's actually got four different switchable capsules, which is really one of the coolest things I've ever seen for a microphone. The four capsules that it has are for four of the best microphones ever made, including an (AKG) C12, a (Telefunken) 251, and a (Neumann) U47 and U67. There is also a (Sony) C800 capsule available, but the one we have at the studio where I work just has the four aforementioned capsules. The mic comes with it's own power supply, cables, and a hard shell carrying case. You've cardioid, omni, and figure eight pick up patterns to choose from, as well as patterns in between them as well. The mic picks up frequencies between 30 Hz and 18 kHz.

OVERALL OPINION

What else can you ask for from a microphone that has four capsules to choose from, let alone four of the best capsules ever made? Simply put, the Korby Audio Technologies KAT 4 System is the most versatile microphone you can get. Having access to four different classic microphones within one is just too good to be true. I've used the mostly the U67 and U47 capsules, but all of them certainly sound outstanding. In fact, I was told that someone brought in a real Neumann U67 and shot it out with the Korby, and the Korby sounded better! If you're looking to get any of these microphones, it's probably your best bet to just go with the Korby Audio Technologies KAT 4 System, as it gives you more options and in most instances will actually cost you less. If you want the ultimate flexibility and sound in a single microphone, the Korby KAT system is it!
