- moosersPublié le 18/03/11 à 20:51 (contenu en anglais)The Viewsonic VG150B is a flat panel monitor of 15" in width. The studio that I work at has this in our 'intern' room, which is the smallest and least equipped room of about eight that we have on site. The room is usually rented out by someone who brings in their own gear, but since it's vacant right now we've got all of the gear that doesn't below elsewhere stocked in this room. This includes this monitor, which was an extra one until it was needed in this room. While it's fine in this room since not too much work beyond simple editing usually gets done, it's really not an adequate monitor for your DAW. The size alone would be enough to deter me from getting it, but it also has to do with the picture itself. The monitor just isn't all that great looking and when you pair this with the size, it's really hard to use with Pro Tools. A wide screen monitor is definitely preferred for Pro Tools as that's how the windows are configured. On the Viewsonic VG150B the sides of the mix and edit windows are cut off, so you'll have to adjust them accordingly, which is not ideal. The Viewsonic VG150B should really only be used in situations where you have nothing else to go to. Even though it might be super cheap, having a decent monitor to view everything in your DAW is rather essential. Good monitors can be had at such a cheap price these days that it's silly not to get something that you feel comfortable using, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone comfortable with using the VG150B on any every day basis. For us at the studio it works as a stop gap, but it's really not convenient. I'd recommend staying away from the Viewsonic VG150B if you're planning on using it for a DAW!00
