I run this on a Macbook Pro i7 with 8gb ram and an RME Fireface 800 running Kontakt 5 as standalone or in Ableton 8 and Logic 9. So far, I have had no compatibility issues. I do recommend the manual if you decide to use the Glissando patches as the keyboard has "effect" keys that you will benefit greatly by knowing what they do. The configuration is relatively simple with a few nice effects. Basically you get a three band eq, reverb (with wet/dry parameter) and simple arpeggiation options. When using the Glissando, the arpeggiation parameters on the GUI are traded out for the similar "glissando" runs' options. Everything can be accessed easily from the front face of the GUI.
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
So far I have never had any crashes or lost work. I have never experienced any glitches or audio drop outs either. The CineHarp has actually performed very well so far. I give this a full 10 out of 10. The sound is fantastic. It blows away any Harp patch found on any synthesizer I have ever used. For example, most synth patches are very clean sounding with no sounds heard except for the tone of the "string." With Cineharp, you can actually here the sound a players fingers make (kinda raspy) when plucking the strings. This adds such a layer of realism that I never even knew what I was missing until I heard this sample set. The glissando is also extremely pleasant. It's very easy to use and after learning the "effect" keys on the keyboard you can create some beautiful glissando runs within a few minutes, or even seconds. I have had this set for about two months now and have used several times. I have even spent time just playing it for the pure pleasure of hearing a beautiful harp.
OVERALL OPINION
What I like most is the high level of realism. The tracks I have laid with this set truly sound like we had a Harpist in the studio. I also really like how quickly you can tweak and come up with awesome glissando runs. There is nothing I do not like about this sample set. They did a great job. For only $79, I think this is a great deal. I have used many different patches like stated earlier, and this is the best Harp sound I have ever heard come from my any form of synthesis. I highly recommend this to anyone in need of Harp samples as I would buy it again if I needed to.
