The Biyang OD-7 is a unique overdrive pedal that is best suited for use with electric guitar. It's essentially a suped-up Tube Screamer as it's got the same sort of sound and even has a TS setting on it. The pedal is made up of analog parts and has 1/4" jacks for input and output. It's powered up by a nine volt power supply and isn't rack mountable as it's a stomp box.
UTILIZATION
The configuration of the Biyang OD-7 isn't much to follow. Even if you haven't used many other overdrive pedals out there, it's still pretty easy to understand. If you do have experience with other overdrive pedals, this will be a cinch to use. The main parameters are for volume, tone, and drive, which are the three parameters that you'll find on most distortion and overdrive pedals. It then also has three different modes to choose from - a TS mode (Tube Screamer), and both a bright and warm setting as well. It's definitely a self explanatory make up, so a manual isn't needed.
SOUND QUALITY
This is basically the best of all possible worlds in terms of being it's own Tube Screamer. The Biyang OD-7 borrows the make up of the Tube Screamers and expands on it a bit, as it's more versatile than your average Tube Screamer. For me the TS setting is the best as it's the fullest, but the bright and warm settings are also very useful and are a nice change of pace. All of the sounds possible with the pedal are however, top notch in terms of clarity and overall tone. It's possible to get a wide array of tones between the three different modes, making it more flexible than Ibanez made Tube Screamers out there...
OVERALL OPINION
If you're looking for a top tier overdrive pedal which is basically a Tube Screamer, the Biyang OD-7 is your ticket! This is not very well known for whatever reason, but if you are after the Tube Screamer sound, this is a pedal you absolutely need to consider. It's cheaper than you would think it would be as well, making it a great overall pedal that guitar geeks of all types should know about.
