CHOOSING A LOCATION IN YOUR RACK
The DCR-1SR is an analog unit, not a digital unit. It does not have a microprocessor. It utilizes linear voltage regulators and very sensitive electro-magentic components. If the DCR-1SR is placed close to transformers, AC Adapters, or high speed switching circuits that are not adequately shielded, it will cross talk with those components and you will hear a humming noise. Turning off some of these units does not mean that the internal power supplies or microprocessors are not running, and it therefore does not stop the noise. This noise usually will not be present when the effect is in the bypass mode.
You should try placing the DCR-1SR in different rack locations to achieve the minimal electromagnetic crosstalk. The DCR=1SR has been constructed with some electromagnetic shielding and will behave well when placed by units that have been engineered to minimize their electromagnetic noise. The intensity of the noise emitted from these units can be reduced by increasing the distance between the DCR-1SR and the apparent noise source.

SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
Mount the CryBaby Rack Unit into your rack. Place the nylon flat washers between the screws and the front of the CryBaby Rack Unit. To achieve a high quality chassis ground, place the #10 interlock washer between the front panel and your rack on one of the mounting screws. First install all the screws and washers loosely and then tighten them.
Insert the 5-pin DIN plug end of the AC Adapter into the back panel of the DCR-1SR labeled POWER. Insert the other end of the AC Adapter into an AC power source.
Push the Power button on the front panel of the unit in to turn the unit on. The Red LED will light up. If the LED does not light up, check your AC connections.
Connect the 25' stereo cable into one of the control pedal inputs located on the back panel of the DCR-1SR, then connect the other end of the cable into the foot control pedal. Depress the toe of the pedal and observe that the green PEDAL ON LED on the front panel of the main unit will toggle off and on.
Insert the input signal plug from your instrument or effects chain into the input jack labeled IN on the back panel of the DCR-1SR. There are three output jacks on the rear panel. The two output jacks labeled WET/BUFF and WET/DRY will send an output signal that contains the wah effect. The WET/BUFF connector has a buffer driver in the bypass signal when the effect is off. The WET/DRY connector is hard wire bypassed when the effects is in the bypass mode. The DRY output jack is hard wire bypassed to the input jack and will bypass the wah effect at all times. Connect the amp's output signal plug to the selected output jack, the corresponding LEDs on the front panel labeled IN, DRY, WET/BUF, WET/DRY will light up.
You are now ready to play.

CONTROLLER PEDALS
You may purchase additional controller pedals for use with your CryBaby Rack Moutnable Wah. Ask your local retailer for the DCR-1SRFC - CryBaby Rack Root Controller.
The On/Off LEDs will not operate on the controller pedals until you have installed a 9-volt batter into the unit. The wah effect will operate without the battery. [Note: The Controller Pedals are shipped from the factory without a battery to prevent possible damage from leakage. A 9-volt transistor radio battery must be installed to operate the Indicator LEDs on the pedals. The wah effect will operation without a battery. To install the battery, remove 4 screws from the rubber feet securing the bottom cover and insert the battery.
To turn the pedal on, push the toe of the pedal all the way down firmly until you feel a "click". When the pedal is on, the LEDs on the pedal will light up, and the BYPASS light on the front of the main unit will be off. To turn the pedal off, push the toe of the pedal down again, until you feel another "click". When the pedal is off, the LEDs on the pedal will be off and the BYPASS light on the main unit will be on.
You can control the wah effect from any of the four controller pedals. You don't need to turn one off in order to turn another pedal on. For example, if you are playing from controller pedal #1 and you leave it on and move across the stage to pedal #2, you can turn on and control the wah effect from pedal #2. The action of turn on pedal #2, by pressing down on the toe of the pedal until you feel a "click", will turn off pedal #1 (the LEDs will turn off at pedal#1) and give you control of the wah effect from pedal #2. If you then turn off pedal #2, the LEDs will turn off at pedal #2 and the Pedal On LED will turn off.

GENERAL WAH OPERATION
By rocking your foot back and forth on the pedal, you can change the effect that the CryBaby has on the tone of your instrument. Toe down will give you more treble, heel down will give you more bass. The speed and amount of effect you use depends on your style of playing.
When placing the pedal in one position, you will hear a boost in that particular frequency. This boost can be used to add sustain and create feedback of a desired overtone.
When using a lot of distortion, the effect will not be as prominent. Try setting the pedal in one position. This will help in making artificial harmonics and controlling the amount of feedback.

CONTROL PANEL INSTRUCTIONS

BYPASS
Depress the Bypass button to put the unit into bypass made. Note, the adjacent Red LED is on when this switch has been depressed.

REMOTE
If you have a voltage controlled input (like a MIDI), instead of a resistor controlled input (like the Crybaby Rack Foot Controllers), you need to plug it into the remote jack on the rear panel and depress the remote button on the front panel to select it. The Remote button acts as a toggle between the remote input and the control pedal inputs. When the remote is enabled, the remote jack controls the rack and when the remote is disabled the control pedals control the rack. For use with the Crybaby Rack Foot Controllers, the Remote LED must be OFF.

VOLUME
You can adjust the volume by turning the volume knob clockwise.
MIN - Turned all the way to the left is OFF.
0 - This is the throughput of a stand alone CryBaby pedal. (14-16db at the center frequency)
MAX - This is the normal throughout, plus approximately 10db.

CLIP
When the unit is being overdriven, the CLIP light will turn on. If this happens, reduce your input signal immediately.

RANGE
The CryBaby Rack Mountable Wah gives you the choice of three different wah variations.
1-2 - These two ranges are the sound of the original CryBaby wah with all its highs with the second range taking a little off the top and adding more bass.
3-4 - These two ranges are the sound of the original CryBaby wah altered to give a mid to lower mid range and fatter sound.
5-6 - This is the sound of the Bass CryBaby wah, for use with the lower registers.

EQ
The EQ allows you to contour your wah sound over all range selections 1 through 6. Turn on the EQ by pushing the button. The LED will light when the EQ is on. The 150 EQ setting represents the lowest wah frequencies, while the 2.8KHZ EQ setting represents the highest wah frequencies knobs. For example, if you select the wah range #1 (the highest wah range), the lowest frequencies 300 & 150 are eliminated from your wah range. By turning the 300 knob clockwise toward the + you can add that frequency to the #1 wah range that you have selected. By turning the 1.3KHZ knob toward the - you can decrease that frequency in the wah and customize your wah sound.

GROUND SWITCH
This switch is also commonly referred to as the ground lift option, and is frequently used to minimize AC noise in the audio system. When the switch is in the IN position, it connects the analog unit with the safety ground. When the switch is in the OUT position, it isolates the analog unit from the safety ground.
