The aluminium (read light weight) chassis holds 2 generous Made In England transformers. The output transformer has taps for 4, 8 and 16 ohm loads.
The tubes are a Tung Sol 12AX7 for the input, JJ 12AX7s for the other stages and phase inverter. The 6V6GTs are Tung Sol too. They’re the best modern 6V6s for this application in my opinion. Solid in construction and musical.
As usual with VD Amps, the construction is “military style”. The components are snuggly attached to turrets for maximum reliabiliy and no cold joint problem. The resistors are a mix of metal film and carbon comp (the carbon comps going in the signal chain). Caps are classic polyester film Mallorys.
This construction makes for a solid and easy to maintain amp.
The speaker of choice for this amp is a Celestion G12H, the stalwart of British voiced speakers.
