Agile guitars is a Korean guitar maker who is becoming popular in America. Their main vendor is Rondo Music and this place is well known for their customer service and quality. The Agile PS line is based off of the PRS shape. Even though the 100 is the lowest model in the series it is the one that is most like a PRS. The higher end models in the line on paper have better features than their PRS counterparts. This guitar featurewise is in line with a PRS SE. This guitar has a flat top body made of solid mahogany. The neck is made from maple and is very Gibson esque. It has the Gibson neck scale and 24 jumbo frets on a rosewood fretboard. It has a wrap around bridge like a PRS. The higher end models have more adjustable Tune-o-matic bridges. Up top there are 6 Grover tuners to keep you in tune. It has two humbuckers and a volume and tone control with a 3 way switch.

UTILIZATION

There are some things I dislike on this guitar but these things are what makes it such a good and accurate PRS SE copy. The wraparound bridge is something PRS loves but it doesnt lend itself to much adjustability. PRS manages to make them work somehow but on this guitar what you see is what you get. You can change it out for an adjustable one piece bridge for about 30 bucks. Up top at the headstock you see a great feature that not many guitars come with. There is a straight string pull from the nut to the tuners. 15000 dollar Gibsons dont have this. This provides a better tuning stability because you do not have the strings binding against the nut at an angle. The neck is nice and beefy but not too big. The flat finish gives the guitar a smooth feel and it doesnt get sticky or anything.

SOUNDS

As with just about any guitar of this price the stock pickups are not great. I wasn't a huge fan of the stock pickups in this thing. Then again, I dont think anyone is a fan of weak stock pickups. The bridge was powerful, but it lacked what I usually look for in a bridge pickup. I like the pickup to be clear and tight, but it seemed to be a bit muddy The neck sounded decent, but I'd like it to be more powerful and smoother sounding. A smooth neck pickup tone is what I look for. I like to use the neck pickup for high gain leads and with a smooth neck pickup this sound is what I prefer. A set of Dimarzio pickups or Seymour Duncans would really raise the level of this guitar.

OVERALL OPINION

If you are looking for a PRS style guitar but want to spend the minimal amount of money this is a good guitar. It pretty much has all the features you would get with a PRS SE just with a different name on the headstock. I wouldnt be surprised if this is made in the same factory as the SE PRS guitars. This is a great base starter guitar if you throw in a decent set of pickups you would have a really nice workhorse guitar.
