The Deltalab SC-1 is a stereo chorus pedal that is primarily designed for use with electric guitar, but suitable with any electronic instrument you can plug into it. The pedal has a single 1/4" input for plugging in your guitar, and two 1/4" outputs for the option of using it as a stereo pedal. You can power it up using either a nine volt battery or power supply and it isn't rack mountable as it's a stomp box.
UTILIZATION
You don't need to have a whole lot of experience to know how to use the Deltalab SC-1, as more or less the controls are self explanatory. The parameters at hand here will often be seen on other chorus devices and include knobs for just rate, depth, and level control. It's so easy to use that I can't imagine why anyone would need a manual.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound of the Deltalab SC-1 isn't bad, but it's also not going to blow you away. It's fine for getting your basic chorus tones, but doesn't offer up too much flexibility. It's open sounding for the most part and I like it best for getting simple chorus tones, which is usually the way I like my chorus anyway. However, there's definitely something to be said for more in depth chorus pedals that allow you to cross the spectrum of effects a little more. It's not the warmest chorus out there but it has a certain clean quality to it that makes up for this in a way.
OVERALL OPINION
The cheap price of the Deltalab SC-1 will certainly drive people to check it out, and it is worth seeing at this price, but as always there's a trade off in that you're not going to be getting a top tier chorus pedal. That's fine if you just use chorus every now and again, as this will suit that sort of use just fine, but but if you're using chorus a lot I'd recommend looking elsewhere as it won't cost you too much more to jump into the next tier of pedals in terms of quality...
