    UTILIZATION

Being an Ibanez RG series, of course this guitar is easy to play. The neck-through heel and deep cutaways provide ample comfort for shredding up to the 24th fret. Also, the Edge III tremolo offers tuning stability, subtle fine tuning, and it stands up to whammy bar divebombing abuse. The guitar is a bit heavier, being that it is a neck-through construction, but the heel contouring and the added resonance help make up for that. Also, the finish/figuring was very classy, like a much more expensive PRS!

    SOUNDS

The stock pickups were good enough to play through and find a decent tone, but I wasn't impressed with them. I ended up swapping them out for a JB and Jazz combination from Seymour Duncan, and it made a world of difference. The guitar's sound then sprang to life.

Regarding the guitar's sound with the Seymour Duncans - there is a very aggressive, cutting sound within this guitar. The Edge III's alloy and construction combined with the bridge pickup selected makes the notes very crisp, bright, and bold. Complex chordings resounded with nice clarity. And then the neck pickup added a ton of warmth. The "Sweet Child O' Mine" woman tone was very easy to get with this guitar and pickup combo.

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, this is a very good instrument. The playability is fantastic, the tremolo system is better than a Floyd Rose, and the sounds were decent. For the price, it's worth it to buy the guitar with the thought of swapping pickups out for one's favorite set. This guitar is a winner overall, and I would recommend to any modern rock or metal fan.
