With the soundfield Mark V it really is one of the best, or best, mics I have used in recording.
It can record pretty much anything to the highest standard possible.
A list of instruments I have recorded with this mic are...
Acoustic Guitar, a banjo, a mandelin, female vocals, male vocals, amped electric guitar and bass, I have also used it to record as overheads but I feel as thought this does not really do the mic justice as you can use some ordinary standard akgs for that sort of thing.
The mic's diaphram is soo good that it can pick up sound from any direction you could imagine.
It comes with its own rack module with 12 pin connectors for extra balanced signal.
The rack module is very big and you would have to clear some space in your studio if you were to look into getting one.
The mic itself is a condenser and very sensitive as an example if you turn up the range of what it can pick up to the max and leave it in a room with the door closed it will be able to pick up most of the studio around. It is pretty amazing!
OVERALL OPINION
The worst thing about the mic is the price of it, it is over £5000 in price, but with that you get the best quality you have ever heard in a mic.
It is the most expensive thing in the studio out of the mics.
Quality of sound is incredible, it is just beautiful all together but extremely expensive.
I would buy more of these if I had the money and record everything with them as they are the best I have ever used.
Definitely worth picking up if you are starting up a professional recording studio.
