A local songwriter that I know uses the Roland V Piano a lot, I have used it maybe 3 or 4 times while with him and the feel of it is so satisfying. Anyone who knows how to play piano knows that working on a digital piano will not feel as good. But with the Roland V Piano you feel like you are at a baby grand! With the analog and digital outs you can plug it into an amp or any system that you want the sounds to come out of. It comes with a stand and with the 3 pedal set. The Roland V Piano is a lot bigger than I imagined it would be and it is also heavier than I thought it would be. There really is not lugging this in and out of the car to get to gigs. Unless you have a road crew you just won’t be taking this with you. On the Roland V Piano there isn’t any switching for velocity, but everything seems to have an amazing tone and texture to the sound.
UTILIZATION
Set up is no sweat at all, plug it in and start playing. Selecting your patches is pretty simple because of the main face of the board has everything right in front of you and labeled for easy access. I have not seen the manual for it, but I didn’t need it so I am sure most people wont need it.
SOUNDS
All sounds are amazing, the acoustic piano’s are some of the best out, I wish I had more time to work with the V Piano and could have it at home but coming in at almost 7 Grand I just can not afford to have that in my house.
OVERALL OPINION
The touch and response on the V Piano is amazing, with the ivory feel of the keys you will have to remind your self that you are at a digital piano and not a grand. We have used the Roland V Piano to record audio (stereo) into Pro Tools, there was no effort involved with that process because it was just audio out, going into the audio interface. Simple to use, and a great feeling digital piano!
