The Trisonic TS-556-7PA is a universal AC to DC adapter that can be used to power a variety of devices. This adapter has a maximum power of 18W, and it can accept either 110 input volts (AC) or 220 input volts (AC), if you happen to live outside of the united states. There is a switch on the back on the unit that switches the input voltage mode. It runs on 60hz or 50hz a/c power, and it has a maximum current output of 1A or 1000mA, which is extraordinarily high. In fact, I needed a 1A current, in order to properly power my Akai MIDI Controller, and it is always good to have that capability. The downside, is that this adapter is fairly large, and it is one of the largest wall-wart style power adapters I have ever used. If you are not careful, this power adapter can easily fall off the wall of a weaker wall socket, and it is heavy enough to damage things.
There is a switch on the unit that can change the polarity of the power (a must, for a universal power adapter), and the output voltage can be changed between: 1.5V, 3V, 4.5V, 6V, 7.5V, 9V, and 12V. I find myself using the 9V and 12V modes the most, as these are common with guitar electronics.
The Trisonic also has 7 different plug adapters, so it can be used with a wide range of jacks. They are all different sizes, but have the same barrel-type shape to them. Three of them are based on Sony designs, and the rest are standard sizes, for all sorts of devices, such as guitar pedals. I do, however, wish there was a standard 9V battery connector plug, which I have seen on other universal power supplies. But overall, this power supply delivers the goods, with some high power capabilities to boot!
