The Electro Harmonix Holy Grail is an analog reverb pedal. It has a 1/4 inch input and output and is not a rackable unit - it is a stompc box.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the pedal couldn't be easier. It has a switch to choose which type of reverb you want - either spring, hall or flerb and has a large knob to control the level of the reveb. It is extremely easy to get a good reverb sound from this. I don't have a manual for this but this might be the easiest pedal in the world to use, so you probably don't need it.

SOUND QUALITY

The reverb produced with the Electro Harmonix Holy Grail reverb is great. Even though the parameters are limited, the three different types of reverbs make it vesatile because they are each unique sounding from each other. The spring and hall reverbs are both rich and are your typical spring and hall reverb effects. The flerb, on the other hand, is unique from just about any other reverb sound, as it brings its own sound to the table. I have used this pedal only with guitar - usually a '76 Fender Twin Reverb and a Gibson SG.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Electro Harmonix Holy Grail for about three years. I love it because of the high sound quality and the ease of use. I don't have to fiddle for hours with this to get a good sound - it is quick and easy to dial in a great reverb tone. While this isn't as versatile as a Boss RV-5 or a Line 6 Verbzilla, you'll save a bit of money if you are looking for some simple, but realistic reverb sounds. The price is cheap and you know you're getting a good product because of Electo Harmonix's great reputation. Overall, I definitley recommend guitars who need some reverb to look into the Holy Grail.
