This is a comprehensive floorboard for the POD (and POD 2.0) that makes it possible to use the POD live. It has every option one could want from such a device, with the ability to change by bank, with each of the four patches within each bank. It has quick access to the tuner and the tap tempo. Line 6 was even generous with the type of cable that connects the floorboard to POD. It comes with a long CAT5/RJ-45 type cable, meaning you can substitute in your own longer cable if you wish. This is great, but because the guitar plugs into the POD and not the floorboard, this could lead to some very long cable lengths going back and forth, so it's probably more efficient to have the POD up front with the floorboard. Unfortunately, it can't be used with any of the new POD's.
UTILIZATION
This is very easy to use, I don't even think I had to crack open the manual. Just plug it in and you're ready to go. The POD provides the power, so the only connection for the floorboard is the above mentioned network cable.
SOUND QUALITY
I can't really comment on the sound quality of this, because it doesn't change the sound quality of the POD. Unfortunately, I have to give this option a rating, but if I could avoid giving it one I would.
OVERALL OPINION
When I had one of these it was great. I don't know if at the current price point it would be worth it to pick up a POD or POD 2.0 and this floorboard or a used POD XT Live. I now own a POD XT Live, but if I didn't have either, I probably would pick up the XT Live instead to avoid a large number of connections in and out of the POD and across the stage. As stated above, unfortunately it can't be connected with a POD XT or later POD, which limits it usefulness today.
