UAD 4K Plug-Ins
The UAD 4K Channel Strip is an exacting circuit emulation of the SSL 4000 G+*, complete with the Type E “black knob” four-band EQ widely held to be the favorite in SSL’s console lineage. The companion UAD 4K Buss Compressor, with its simple control set and wonderfully transparent compression characteristics, faithfully models the 4000 G+* buss compressor. With their intuitive EQ rich with colorful band interdependencies and wide range of transparent to in-your-face VCA compression characteristics, both UAD 4K plug-ins painstakingly emulate the console channel and buss compressor from the 4000 in all its hit-making glory. The UAD 4K Channel Strip sells for $249, while the UAD 4K Buss Compressor is available for $199. Each of the UAD 4K plug-ins includes a 14-day fully functional demo and is now available for purchase to UAD-1 and UAD-2 owners.
• UAD 4K Channel Strip emulates hit-making sound of SSL 4000
• Circuit emulation of the 4000 G+ with Type E “black knob” EQ & Filters
• Flexible Compressor range from transparent to “in your face”
• Specially tailored dynamics ideal for compressing the full mix
• Fixed Attack, Release and Ratio settings
Cooper Time Cube MkII
The original Cooper Time Cube was a Duane Cooper and Bill Putnam collaborative design that brought a garden hose-based mechanical delay to the world in 1971. Since then the Cooper Time Cube has achieved cult status as one of the most unique delay lines ever made. The Cooper Time Cube is famous for its spectacular short delay and doubling effects and its renowned ability to sit perfectly in the mix. The Cooper Time Cube MkII is a feature-enhanced evolution on the original delay system design. While the plug-in retains the mechanical delay sound of the original hardware, it goes further by offering all the necessary features expected from a modern device: Delay, Decay, Pan and Volume controls plus Tempo Sync and Automation for each of the two independent delay lines. The Cooper Time Cube Mk II includes a 14-day fully functional demo and is now available for purchase to UAD-2 owners for $149.
• Designed by Duane Cooper and Bill Putnam—highly unique delay
• All the vibe of the original, with modern feature enhancements
• Two independent delay lines with Delay, Decay, Pan and Volume
• “Coils” recreates the original sound of the CTC regardless of Delay setting
• Tempo Sync, Treble and Bass tone controls, HPF and Wet Solo

Citation : First impressions with Waves SSL vs. UAD 4k Buss Comp...subtle differences mostly...UAD is punchier, more in-your-face, let's more transients through at the same attack setting. Slightly better imaging. Not quite as thick and glue-y, cleaner, clearer in the mids. Crunches better on drum busses. Waves will probably remain my go-to for certain styles that require more soup. It's been a while since I mixed on a 4000, but I'm leaning towards UAD being more faithful. Waves has the prettier GUI, and I prefer their stiffer knobs. But overall, the 4k is great, it's just about everything I wanted the PBC to be.
