- moosersPublié le 29/08/11 à 21:36 (contenu en anglais)The Peavey TKO 75 is a bass guitar and keyboard amplifier. Although I’ve used it for bass a little bit, recently I’ve actually been using it for guitar. There is one of these amps in the practice space that my band plays in, and it’s easier for me just to play guitar through this than bring my amp to the space every time since it’s fragile. Our bass player has his own amp as well, so this one was up for grabs in there and I decided to try it for guitar. The result actually hasn’t been too bad as it seems to be getting the job done. The amp has a single 15” speaker I believe, with two ¼” inputs – one for high and one for low gain. It also has ¼” jacks for effect send and return, headphones, and a pre out/in.
UTILIZATION
Using the TKO 75 is quite simple. It has both pre and post gain control, as well as a bright switch, and a seven band graphic EQ and separate overall high and low EQ control. I don’t use the EQ much since I’m using it for my guitar, but it’s going to be more useful if you use this amp properly for bass or keyboard. That’s more or less all you need to know in terms of the make up of the TKO 75…
SOUNDS
The Peavey TKO 75 actually doesn’t sound half bad for guitar. Of course I’m just using it out of necessity, but it’s pretty clear sounding, although it does put out a good amount of low end of course. I wouldn’t use the amp for a show or recording for guitar, but it definitely is suitable for all applications when it comes to keyboard and bass guitar.
OVERALL OPINION
The Peavey TKO 75 is a work horse of an amp and isn’t a bad choice for someone looking for a reliable bass guitar or keyboard amp. It’s definitely not the best choice overall, but it’s a solid amp that will get the job done for those on a budget as it won’t cost you much if you can find one used. This may not be easy as it was only by chance that I starting using the TKO 75. Either way, if you do find one it’s a pretty decent amp worth checking out.00
