- moosersPublié le 18/10/09 à 00:05 (contenu en anglais)The Morley Distortion 1 is an analog distortion pedal that has 1/4 inch connections for input and output. The pedal can be powered by either two 9 volt batteries or a specific power supply that I assume is 18 volts but I'm not exactly sure as I use batteries with it. The pedal isn't rack mountable as it is a stomp box.
UTILIZATION
Using the Morley Distortion 1 isn't hard at all as the pedal has a limited number of parameters. The pedal just has knobs for distortion and output and that is all that there is to the pedal. It is pretty much just as easy to use as just about any pedal out there because of this simple make up. Anyone should be able to use this without a manual simply by playing with it to see what the two parameters do.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound of the Morley Distortion 1 is pretty cool overall. While I wasn't blow away by the sound quality, it is definitely a useful distortion and has its own sound to it. It is chunky sounding and is great for heavier rock music. I use the pedal with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb, so I'm getting an accurate sound from this pedal and I'm overall quite happy with the sounds that I can get within this configuration. While this isn't the best sounding distortion pedal, it definitely sounds good - it is just a matter of figuring out where it will work best.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using the Morley Distortion 1 for a few years and while I don't find myself using it all of the time, it is nice to have it around for when I might want to use it. I can't think of any distortion pedals that I would compare to this one as it is pretty unique in terms of make up and sound. I love the pedals in this line of Morley effects and would definitely recommend looking into the Morley Distortion 1 if you are looking for a unique vintage distortion pedal.
