    Westlake BBSM-12Publié le 09/05/10 à 20:43

The Westlake BBSM-12 comes as a single monitoring system, but a pair of them is usually desired. It's a three way monitor that is suitable for uses of all types. I've used the BBSM-12 for monitoring during recording as well as mixing, but they can certainly be used for any desired application, including mastering. These are passive monitors, so you'll need a power amplifier with a good amount of juice with it.

    SOUNDS

The sound of the Westlake BBSM-12 is nothing less than outstanding. It delivers one of the most sonically pristine sounds that I've heard in a monitor, not to mention that it can get as loud as just about any as well. I've only used the BBSM-12's as a stereo pair, but I guess you could use one on it's own if desired since it is a three way monitor. Everything comes through these speakers in exactly the same fashion that you put into it, giving you all the necessary details for proper mixing and mastering. These aren't the type of monitors that sound 'too good' either - they simply get the job done at a very high level without distorting the original nature of your sound.

    OVERALL OPINION

You'll most likely only find the Westlake BBSM-12's in a professional studio or in a professional's home studio for a few different reason. Of course the main factor is the price, as these cost a fortune for each monitor. Another reason is the sheer size and weight of these monitors, as you'll need to keep them in one place all the time since you can't really move them around very easily at all. Having said all of this, if you're putting together a professional studio, or are just looking to upgrade your monitors, you really can't go wrong with the BBSM-12's. If you can afford these for your studio, I'd absolutely recommend doing so, but there are certainly other high quality monitors out there to choose from, so obviously be sure to do proper research before making a decision!
