We wanted to design an overdrive that is both thick and articulate.
We wanted an overdrive pedal that responds to picking dynamics and volume knob rolloff.
We wanted an overdrive pedal with TeaserMode™ switching.
We wanted an overdrive pedal that can stand up to the rigors of the real world.
We wanted an overdrive that sounds and looks good enough to be the foundation of your tone.
We think we did it.
Three Knobs. Turn ’em.
VOLUME, TONE, and GAIN are all designed to be provide usable sounds throughout their full range. From clean to searing overdrive, the GAIN control provides an immense range of options. TONE can dial in just the right amount of punch to cut through a mix. Play, experiment, find your own sound.
TeaserMode™
TeaserMode™ is Grindstone Audio Solution’s system for providing both latching and momentary switching via the same footswitch. Every time you step on the switch, you decide if you need it to turn on and stay on, or only be on while the switch is pressed.
A quick press-and-release will make the switch perform like a latching on-off switch. A longer press and hold will disengage the effect when the switch is released.
Having spent years repairing pedals for touring pros around the globe, we know that the standard latching footswitch is a common point of failure in other pedals. Knowing the importance of a reliable footswitch, the NIGHTSHADE is designed around a heavy-duty non-latching momentary switch.
Buffered Tone Savings
With pedal boards expanding and the additional capacitance that comes from long cable runs, a buffer makes sure that your tone stays true. NIGHTSHADE is buffered whenever it’s on.
Total Package
The custom designed aluminum enclosure is both lightweight and rugged. Fully anodized and laser engraved for durability. Jacks are all located on the top of the pedal to help maximize pedal real estate.

Power
NIGHTSHADE can take power up to 18V, but it will sound just about the same at 9V, so we recommend running it at 9V.
Grindstone pedals use either a standard 9 Volt Battery, or a 9 Volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. We suggest either pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or supplies with multiple isolated outputs. Cleaner power makes for better tone. Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through noise and ripple.Lifetime Limited Warranty
If it breaks (and it wasn’t abused) we’ll fix it.
Grindstone Audio Solutions stands behind our products and designs. If your pedal breaks or stops working in the course of normal use, send it back to us and we’ll fix it, no charge. If it breaks or stops working due to abuse or extreme damage, there may be a charge to fix it. Contact us. We don’t design them to be submerged under water or dropped from the top a building. We do design them for daily use, in the studio or on the road.
