Hi

Does anybody know how to make patch on Korg MS-20 witch using microphone and ESP to set vocoder sound of voice ?
I tryed to connect MIC to SIGNAL IN and TRIG OUT to TRIG IN, and I tryed to set other connections but without result. Ther is only voice with distortion.


AIR (band) is using vocoder (from MS-20)not VC-01 in REMEMBER-song on first album MOON SAFARI. It must sounding like that - simply vocoder

Please help me If sombody know how to do it.

Tiens je pensais justement à ça hier avan de m'endormir...

Désolé de ne pas parler anglais mais je sui vraiment trop mauvais.
Mais il doit etre possible, meme si ce n'es pas un vocoder pur et dur, d'au moins faire suivre la voix par les VCO, en pus d'y donner un coté plus ou moins synthétique par les filtres!

Oui c'est en effet possible de faire suivre la voix ou une guitare ou à peut près n'importe quoi par les VCO mais c'est très peut précis et très crade. ça n'a rien a voir avec un vocodeur quoi.

Ben c'est bien normal, c'est un MS20 et non pas un vocoder. :clin:
Tu aurais peut etre un patch à proposer pour commencer?

Hello,

try that :

MIC to signal IN (External signal processor)
out (just behind the Amp) to ext signal in
F/V converter out to CV in
External signal processor Trig out to Trig In

With this patch, the VCO's frequency follow the voice's frequency, it's just a mix of the korg out and the voice, it isn't a vocoder.
I never try this patch ...

J'en ai un chez moi en effet, mais pas sous la main là...
ça doit être trouvable sur le net.
Par contre j'ai pas trouvé les résultat terribles...

I have to listen to the track from AIR , but it is not possible to have a vocoder with MS20 .... you may talk about RINGMODULATOR effect on the Voice : that is possible with MS20


Here is the patch:


Mic to Audio signal IN ( ESP)
Out ( ESP) to VCA IN

VCA out to your AMP ( monitoring)

SIGNAL OUT or Phones OUT to VCA control input

Then TRy to SIng and play MS20 : the VCO's will modulate the VOICE via the VCA

Sorry Alx002, i don't have a ms20 yet but i thought a ringmodulator was the sum and difference of 2 signals.
which relation with your patch and a ringmod ? ms 20 can do these operations ?

Le réflexe immédiat est bien sûr de chercher à caler le pitch des VCOs sur celui de la voix....fonction basique de l'ESP...
Mais on peut aussi trouver des choses, à condition de bien contrôler la BRILLANCE de sa voix, et la rapprocher d'une SINE, en utilisant celle-ci comme SOURCE DE MODULATION pour les VCOs, dans un esprit FM...Puis ensuite de faire "pareil" avec les VCFs...réso assez haute...
