- moosersPublié le 16/10/09 à 04:51 (contenu en anglais)The DOD Delay 585 Performer is a guitar effects pedal that is compatible with any electronic instrument. The pedal has 1/4 inch connections and can be powered with either a 9 volt battery or power supply. This isn't rack mountable - it is a stomp box.
UTILIZATION
Using the DOD Delay 585 Performer is extremely easy as the pedal simply has three parameters. The pedal has knobs for mix, repeat, and delay time, each of which will change the sound drastically if you turn it one way or the other. I never had any problems using this pedal and I think that even those without much experience with delay pedals will be able to figure this out rather easily. A manual isn't necessary although since I haven't used one I can't speak about its usefulness.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound quality heard from the DOD Delay 585 Performer is quite good. It isn't the best sounding analog delay sound that I've heard, but it is definitely respectable. It has a thick sound and is useful to get a variety of delay tones. I like using it for long sweeping delays that will last a long time as I think that this pedal is better for those types of sounds rather than slap back or short delay. This being said the pedal is capable of getting all sorts of delay sounds depending on the way that you set the parameters. While I'm not always a big fan of the way DOD pedals sound, the 585 is one of their best.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using the DOD Delay 585 Performer for about six or eight months and I definitely like the pedal overall as a compact delay pedal. While it won't get you a huge variety of tones, it is good for the sounds that it is capable of. If I had to choose a single delay pedal, this wouldn't be it because it isn't the most versatile out there, but it is definitely a good sounding delay and is great for use in tandem with a digital delay like a Line 6 DL4 to help you get a variety of tones. These aren't all that easy to find, but they won't cost you much if you can get your hands on one anyway. The DOD Delay 585 Performer is definitely a pedal that is worth looking into.
