Lakewood M54 with Brazilian Rosewood Custom Shop This guitar really sings! Special version of the Lakewood M54. It is a finely crafted acoustic guitar that has garnered significant attention among musicians and collectors for its exceptional build quality, tonal richness, and aesthetic appeal. A highlight of this guitar is its Brazilian Rosewood: A Legacy of Excellence Brazilian rosewood, or **Dalbergia nigra**, is widely regarded as one of the finest tonewoods in the world. Its use in guitar construction has a long and storied history, particularly for high-end instruments. Brazilian rosewood is prized for its stunning visual characteristics—rich, deep hues ranging from dark chocolate to reddish-brown, often adorned with dramatic, complex grain patterns. These qualities make each guitar unique, as no two pieces of Brazilian rosewood are identical. However, it's not just the aesthetic allure that makes Brazilian rosewood sought after. Its tonal properties are equally, if not more, significant. Brazilian rosewood is known for its ability to produce a sound that is both warm and clear, with a remarkable balance across the tonal spectrum. It offers strong bass response, rich mids, and sparkling trebles, making it a versatile wood that suits various playing styles, from fingerpicking to strumming. The wood's natural resonance and sustain are unparalleled, contributing to the M54’s rich and expansive sound. ### The Lakewood M54: A Masterpiece of Craftsmanship The Lakewood M54 is a part of Lakewood's **Deluxe Series**, which is known for its use of premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship. The guitar features a **Grand Concert body shape**, a design that provides a comfortable playing experience while delivering a focused, articulate tone. This body shape, combined with the Brazilian rosewood back and sides, allows the M54 to project sound with clarity and depth, making it ideal for both recording and live performance. The top of the M54 is crafted from 50 years old **European spruce**, another high-quality tonewood known for its responsiveness and dynamic range. This combination of European spruce and Brazilian rosewood is often referred to as a "classic" pairing in guitar making, as it produces a balanced sound with the best characteristics of both woods. The neck of the M54 is made from **cedar**, which adds warmth to the guitar’s tone, and is topped with an **ziricote fingerboard**, known for its smooth feel and durability. The M54 is also adorned with tasteful appointments, including abalone rosettes and purfling, which enhance its visual appeal without being overly ornate.
