bravo korg!

I'm the guy with the funny face
As I'm working as freelancer for KORG, the following is only my 2 cents, not some official statement:
In fact, I understand all of your comments and apologize for your disappointement. However I want to give you some insight about the circumstances:
These units arrived only the day before, lacking manual, and we had practically no time to get into them in more detail. Due to the leaking of photos, half an hour after the fair started camera teams piled up to see&hear the prototype whose features we didn't know yet in complete.
On the other hand, our job was more to attract people walking by and get to talk with them about there experiences with the monotron, inform about new features etc. rather than producing real video demos which will be done by the usual suspects. Given an average 90dB noise from the booths around (KORG was situated in the drummers hall) that would've been hardly possible anyway.
The response of ppl sincerely were veeeery good and numerous and we also met a lot of synth-enthusiasts who really couldn't wait for it to be released. As well, ppl got to try it on their own, since there were 3 more of them equipped with headphones and therefore could easily compensate for my lack of skill
Whatever: Over the time we found out more about the facts/features of which I'd like to share some with you:
- availability depends on numerous companies delivering parts from all over the world and isn't made easier by the limitation of communication in Japan following the sad events in the last weeks
- pressing&holding one of the drum buttons gives you another layer of seq-steps, were you can set double-hits (two 16th notes for each of the 8-steps) to give you some kind of an 16-step light-Sequencer
- you can save one sequence so that it loads up at every reboot.
- regarding Sync-In Korg Japan told me it will accept any audio line level signal such as a clear beep, rimshot etc. at a max of 20V, at least with two monotribes this worked fine and with no delay whatsoever
- the upper body of it is metal, the bottom made of plastic.
- it can be set whether you want a drumsound to played when hitting the select-buttons bd, sn, hh on the left or not.
- the little tempo-potentiometer can be set to "narrow" mode via a button-combination, enabling you to set the tempo more sensitively (in "wide" mode it ranges from somewhat 40-400bpm
If there are questions left, feel free to ask. En francais si c'est agréable pour vous, mais j'éspère qu'une réponse anglais est d'accord.
Salutations d'Allemagne,
Christopher

Happy to learn about the 16 steps and the sync features.
I was to the musikmesse saturday and can confirm about the army of drumers in the hall, it was difficult to hear something even with headphone
Do you know what is the function of the "flux" button ?
thanks

Concerning the flux mode:
It simply deactivates the 8th-note-standard-quantisation of the synth-part. For example I got some cool results in fluxmode setting the tempo very low to be able to play changing 16/32th-notes arpeggios. Then you can raise the tempo to a normal level and voilà you get some really smooth and fast arp-effects.
Also, fluxmode might be used just to get a more edgy rhythm changing the micro-timing of you playing or just to be able to play glides and fx-stuff without a fixed grid.
Also important: The synthpart CVs are recorded unquantized, no matter whether flux is on or off. So, even when you had flux deactivated during recording, activating it will reveal what you really played.
edit: I forgot that fluxmode also deactivates tempoquantisation of the lfo which would normally turn round in quarter notes, 8th, triplets aso.
