Mellotron like monophonic, tape-based instrument designed around a single cassette Walkman which has been elaborately hacked so that a tape of a looped or droning sound (or any other sound) can be precisely sped up or slowed down via Midi or 1v/octave CV to accurately hit notes over a range of 3 octaves.
Multiple Crudmans can be daisy chained for polyphony.
Can be played just like a synthesizer with MIDI or CV in.
Standard synthesizer parameters include ADSR, pitch bend, portamento, can all be set using MIDI Control Change messages.
CV control is purely for cassette speed control, with two 1/8" inputs - one for 1v/octave control from 0-3v, one which will instantly halt the motor.
-1/8" mono audio out
-toggle switch for automatic gain control
-toggle switch for automatic noise reduction
-3 octaves (1 octave up and 2 down from the original sound)
MIDI:
-responds to notes 48-85 (original sound/normal tape speed at 72)
-notes below 48 instantly halt the motor
-Control Change controls - Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release, Portamento, Pitch Bend
-MIDI OUT allows for simple polyphony with multiple Crudmans
One 9v DC power supply included
