Gibson USA RD Custom Guitar. 25.5" scale. 1.69" nut width. 9 lbs 10 oz.The RD Custom was made from 1977-1979 and features active circuitry designed by MOOG.
The all maple, set neck, design creates and articulate yet big natural tone.
Dual Gibson humbucker pickups grab this natural tone and add in their famous complex mids. The Pat Etched Series IV bridge pickup has that great 'PAF' vibe- big crunch tones with excellent cut.The Series VI neck pickup provides excellent syrupy sustain while retaining note definition.
The active electronics are what really sets the Custom apart from the crowd.
The controls consist of dual volume controls, active bass and treble controls, a 3 way pickup selector, and a bright switch.
This puts a lot of tones right at your fingertips- the bright switch and active tone controls have a big effect on the sound when engaged.
A true tone machine.
The neck here has a very thin feel- just .81" deep at the 5th fret with a flat C profile.
The look here is classic- natural finish, large RD pickguard, bound fingerboard, abalone dot inlays, silkscreened logo, and chrome hardware.
