The Mad Professor Little Green Wonder is an overdrive pedal that is designed for electric guitar, but suitable for use with any electronic instrument. I've only used this for electric guitar and it definitely seems like the best option for it. As far as it's basic characteristics go, it's pretty standard as it has 1/4" input and output connections and a power supply jack for a nine volt supply. It also has an compartment for a nine volt battery, and isn't rack mountable as it's a foot pedal.

UTILIZATION

There isn't much at all to using the Mad Professor Little Green Wonder. It's a really simple device that doesn't take too much prior knowledge to use, although certainly previous experience with overdrive and distortion pedals will be helpful since this is a pretty standard configuration. The pedal has three knobs for controlling the drive level, body (which is a low/mid tone/EQ knob), and for overall volume level. I haven't seen a manual for this pedal, nor do I believe one is necessary.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound of the Mad Professor Little Green Wonder is really what makes it a great pedal. The features are certainly nice, but when it comes down to it, it's really all about the sound. This is definitely one of the top overdrive pedals that I've used in recent memory. It doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything, but it delivers a full bodied overdrive sound that sounds great across the board and for both rhythm and lead guitar. I like it best for getting chunky rhythm guitar parts happening, as it's awesome for getting that just slightly overdriven tone.

OVERALL OPINION

While Mad Professor is a little known company, the Little Green Wonder is an overdrive that players should certainly be aware of. The original version is certainly expensive, which is really it's only downfall. However, Mad Professor has issued a PCB version of the pedal which is about half the price. I haven't used the PCB version, but it's definitely worth looking into if you're on a budget as the original version of this pedal isn't very affordable. If you're a pedal geek like myself, the Little Green Wonder and Mad Professor pedals are definitely worth knowing about.
