1 TotalMix - nouvelle génération !
Here we go! :aime2: :aime2: ils sont trop fort chez RME

1) TotalMix includes a new Monitor section, which has been designed
similarly to common mixing desks, and to give you direct access to
functions that you need all the time when working in a studio.

- Monitor Main: Use the drop down menu to select the hardware outputs
where your main monitors are connected to.

- Dim: A click on this button will lower the volume of your main monitor
output (see above) by an amount set up in a new 'Options/Preferences'
dialog. This is the same as moving the third row faders down a bit, but
much more convenient, as the old setting is back by a simple mouse
click. Not yet operational.

- Mono: Sets the outputs defined above to monaural playback.

- Talkback: Use the drop down menu to select the input where your
talkback microphone is connected to. A click on this button will dim the
main monitor by an amount set up in a new 'Options/Preferences'
dialog, and send the mic signal to the three destinations defined below
as 'Monitor Phones'. The Mic level is defined with the channel's input
fader. Not yet operational.

- Monitor Phones 1/2/3: Use the drop down menu to select the hardware
outputs where your submixes are sent to. These submixes are usually
phones outputs for the musicians. A click on the button will allow you
to hear the specific submix via your main outputs. So when setting up or
modifying the submix for the musician you can hear it too. Or in other
words, you can easily check other hardware outputs/submixes by using the
Monitor Phones function, without the need to copy/paste routings back
and forth.

2) All channels can now be named freely. Right-click on the white label
of input 1 and type in any name that you want into the dialog box. The
white label now shows the new name, as far as it fits. Moving the mouse
above the label brings up a tool tip with the complete name.

3) The hardware outputs (third row) can also be name changed. In this
case, the names in the routing drop down menus will change
automatically. Also the names in the drop down menus of the new Monitor
section will change.

4) The Preset buttons can have tool tip names similar to the labels. But
these names are not stored in the preset file, but globally in the registry.

5) When loading a preset file, let's say 'Main Monitor AN 1_2 plus
headphone mix 3_4.fmx, the file name will be shown in the title bar of
the TotalMix window, so you always know what the current TotalMix state
is based on.

This one is limited to the Fireface:

6) Open the Matrix, hold down shift and click on an existing crosspoint.
The colour changes to blue. This specific routing is now phase inverted.
TotalMix allows to phase invert any single routing. As this can not be
displayed easiyl in the TotalMix view, it is only available and
displayed in Matrix view.

7) Mic inputs + phase = M/S decoding and encoding. To make this feature
easy to use we added a macro. Let's say you are performing a M/S record
with mic inputs 9/10, but want to monitor in stereo. Select the input
channels 9 and 10, go to Options, click on M/S Processing In -9/10 to
xxxx - done. In the Matrix you'll see that the channels 9 and 10 have
been routed to both outputs (mono), while channel 10 has also been phase
inverted on its routing on one channel. This settuop is easily done by a
few mouse clicks, but hardly to remember which channel has to be phase
inverted...that's why we added the macro. And of course the macro can be
undone easily by doing the same again (see Options).

You can also do the same with the software playback channels, when
monitoring the (recorded M/S) playback signal.

M/S processing always is a two way function. If performed on a stereo
signal, the rsult will be mono (L+R) on the left, and the stereo parts
(L-R) on the right channel. This gives some interesting insight into the
mono/stereo signals contained in modern music productions. Check it out...

More coming up next week.

Salut Newgrp,

merci.
