The AKG 510 is a Dynamic Polar patterned mic that has been used for a while now. The Frequency response on it is 140-15,000. It is a vintage mic and is no longer being made. You will have to purchase this mic used probably online somewhere because not even local stores carry it anymore.

    OVERALL OPINION

Its worth the buy if you can find it, the frequency range is pretty good. That is probably what I like most about it, and I am glad that I purchased this mic a while back and still have it to the this day, I really don’t use it at all anymore but who knows I may pull it back out one day. It provides a very precise sound that you cant get out of a lot of older vintage style mics. Though there is nothing special to it though, don’t think it will suit everyones needs. It all depends on your recording enviroment and what exactly you want to use it for. I have tried sever AKG mics and they really cant compare to this one, this one I more in a class of its own. Most of the other AKG mics I have tried came after this mic so this was the first one of the AKG D line mics that I have used. I am not even sure why exactly I bought it, I think because someone was selling it so cheap and I needed an all purpose mic that I really didn’t care if it got dropped and broke because I travel around a lot and wanted to take it with me. I would make the choice again if I had too, but there really isn’t a need for this mic now. AKG has so many other mics that are current on the market that will make you forget all about the AKG 510.
