Contrairement aux DSL 20 actuels, cet ampli reprend le circuit d’origine des JCM 2000, avec ses 2 canaux (Classic et Ultra Gain) en faisant l’un des premiers Marshall à lampes vraiment polyvalents ! Le gain et le volume sont réglables par canal, alors que l’EQ (3 bandes + Presence) est commune, de même que les switches "Tone Shift" et "Deep" qui permettent de nombreuses variations sonores, et donc d’adapter l’ampli à beaucoup de styles différents, allant du Classic Rock au Metal moderne.
