Hello,

Yes, the firebox is a really good soundcard. But it depends on what you want to do with it... I know, music. I mean, If you want to make a really good demo (I don't know if you use the same word for that...), you have made the good choice, but if you want more quality....... You'll have to surch for something else. There's some people who as made some song recording that you can listen on this website. Just surch in the profile of the members who have this soundcard.

Sorry for my english... but I'm working on it ! :D:

Debtor for your information, friend!

My English also is not of optimum… But françês I do not fish nothing!I'm Portuguese…

I wait for more critical to this SoundCard! And if has better alternatives, 300/400€

Where I can hear some demos of Presonus Firebox (please some Links)

You can here a record here. It's a live record, so don't be afraid if the result is not what you expect. You just have to imagine the result you'll be able to obtain with some work on the sound, and with a multitrack record.

Tell me what you think.

Hi, thanks

A good live record! :bravo:

How you made the linkings in the 6 connectors Presonus Firebox (4 analogical and 2 digital) ?
(Drums, Guitars, Vocal)

In your opinion the Firebox will be the certain choice ?!
6
I have one, so I can't tell you that it's not a good choice, I'm really satisfied, that's all I can tell.

I have made a live record using with a notebook and the firebox. The configuration was :

- yamaha 01v digital mixing console
- and 4 microphones, 2 for the drums, 1 for guitar, 1 for bass.
- 2 preamp art tube mp.

I have used the output spdif of my yamaha that I have recorded on too separate channel plus all 4 microphones, each one using one the 4 input of firebox, and for the 2 using the line in input, I have used the preamps. I don't know if it's clear because of my english, hope you'll understand...

The result is not as good as what you have heard up ahead, but it's because i'm not as good as I wish in mixing, the firebox is not the problem !

Trying to translate what I wish to tell is giving me a headache.

Already I ordered a Presonus Firebox… I wait that it is an excellent choice! :lol:

I was interested in the Motu UltraLite, but it's very expensive :furieux: €€ and I opted to the Firebox !

Friend jbjovi, It tries to use soft "T-RackS 24", to better your final Record's :bravo:
8
I know T-racks, but I don't have it. It's no use for me now, I work in studio with a professionnal so... May the music be with you.

Jbjovi

I am think to buy the Presonus Comp 16, you find a good purchase ?

My Material of Sound:

Mixer -> Yamaha MG12/4Fx
SoundCard's -> Presonus Firebox & SoundBlaster Audigy 4 Pro
Monitors -> Roland & Bose
Headphones -> Roland RH-50
Micro -> AKG C1000 S
Keyboards -> Roland E86 & Yamanha CS1x
CPU - > Pentium4 2.8Mhz with 320GB Sata Raid
Programs -> Cubase, Nuendo, plugins & others
12
I have just read a review of the presonus comp 16 and it seems to be a good product, espacially with instruments and if you want to record voices, it's better to have a good static microphone (non dynamic as i'm not sure for the translation...). And it seems better having a really good accoustic in the room you record.

Jbjovi, all well friend?

The main problems that I see in the Presonus Firebox are:

1 - The volume of sound of phones is very strong (the volume of phones has to be almost at least)
2- Interface DSP Mixer, would have to be improved, it has some imperfections in the change in volume fader Mixer OUTPUP (Main, 3/4, 5/6, Spdif).

Also you agree, jbjovi ?

I sent an email for www.presonus.com!!! :clin: We go to wait for the reply!

"Techsupport Presonus

Yes I'm fine, thanks.

1 - Yes, the volume of the phone is really strong, but it's not really a problem, because you just have to put the volume down ! :D:
2 - I don't use it, so I don't know the problem...

If you can share the answer of presonus with us, it could be interesting.
15
When it will have the news of www.presonus.com I say here in the forum :clin:

When using the microphone, does not give sound microphone in Phones. It is exactly thus with you also?
16
I have no problem with microphone in hearphone... Perhaps a configuration problem in the firebox mixer... ? In mine, in the Playback to phone section, I have the button 1/2 selected...
17
Already I discovered the problem...

With me, to hear the microphone in phones, I need in the Mixer load button "Mix to Phones" :bravo:

Thanks

Reply of my email for presonus Techsupport Presonus:

"Hey Vitor,

We are constantly evaluating our hardware and software and greatly appreciate user input. I'm going to pass this on to our developers for consideration in future reviews.

Thank you for your input ..."

Jbjovi

Friend, who latency you use in the records with the Firebox ?
It brings for definition 10,0 ms...
20
It depends on the number of tracks I use and if I use them with or without effects, but usually I use 6 or 8 ms. My ears don't allow me to hear the difference, under 8, I don't feel any change.

Jbjovi

I repaired that you have the Korg Kontrol 49! And I liked a suggestion yours for 4 Keyboards!

The keyboard keys, Korg Kontrol 49 are Good ?

Which betters in terms of functions and keyboard keys, until + 150€ ??

- Edirol PC-50
- M-Audio KeyStation 49e
- Korg K49
- E-mu Xboard 49

I'm sorry but I can't help you with that, I use mine only to simplified the input of midi parts, I do not play keyboards. I hope somebody else will be able to help you with that question.

All I can say is that it's seems better to choose one with usb and not with midi, because it seems that a lot of peaple have problems with midi keaboard using midi cable (and I am one of them, sometimes, I need to restart cubase to make my korg to work).
23
Hi mates... sorry for involving into the post.
Anyway UltraBytes, maybe i have some info for you.

You should look after M-Audio "Axiom" series. It's a brand new serie, so price is quite more expensive than older gear. Anyway, those MIDI keyboards are very versatile and usefull. I purchased an Axiom 61; midi controllers and capabilities are well bright thinked and after two months now, i didn't walk through all what the equipment gives. Moreover, it's bundled with Ableton Live, which - depending on your needs- make a pretty interesting buy.

Hi !

I intended to buy the firebox too, but someone told me (on this forum) that the FOcusrite Saffire LE sounds better (like the Motu Ultralite but with less option (inputs, outpus etc..)), for the same price than the Firebox.
25
Hi,

I didn't read all the replies on this thread, so it's highly possible that what I writing has allready been said.
Anyway, I think that this sound card is really good for the price. The sound is ok, it's easy to use. It has also midi and digital in/out.
The only weak point of this card is the level of the inputs witch is a little too low I think. You can fix that by changing the settings from the drivers interface, but it feels a little bit strange isn't it?
One last thing with this card: the headphones out are far too high, it's dangerous for the ears :surpris:
