The TC Electronic MD3 multi effects mastering plug-in was easy to install after downloading it from the TC Electronic website. I had it up within minutes as I had no compatibility issues with my configuration. The interface of the plug-in is very easy to follow, and only takes a little bit of use to figure out how everything is laid out. The manual for the TC Electronic MD3 is pretty complete and can be helpful when trying to learn this plug-in.
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
I have run the TC Electronic MD3 on two different systems - one is a Pro Tools HD system and one is a Pro Tools LE system. I have mostly used this on the HD system that runs with a Digidesign 192 I/O audio interface and an HD 3 Accel Card. The computer I use this on with Pro Tools HD is a Apple Mac G5. I have also run this in Pro Tools LE with a Mac Book Pro and a Digi 002R audio interface. With both of these configurations I have never had an issue running this plug-in. Since it is a mastering plug-in, I only use it on a single stereo track or on a master fader, so I can't speak to how many more of these you can run beyond this, but for this use I have never had any issues.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using the TC Electronic MD3 mastering plug-in for about six months and have found it to be an effective mastering plug-in was a good amount of different signal processing available. The price is maybe a little expensive, but beyond this the interface of the software is laid out smartly and is easy to use. The sound quality is very good, but not as good as some other mastering plug-in suites out there. Overall, a nice piece of mastering software, but I would encourage those interested in software like this to try out a number of different products before buying to see what will work best for their needs.
