The Cruncher is easy to use with a wide range of distortion effects obtainable owing to its design and comprehensive controls. Because the footswitch in/out is a complete hardwire bypass it is very easy to set the levels so that switching the effect in and out does not cause a change in volume. A unique feature is the unit’s ability to connect to any power supply between +9volts to +18 volts a.c or d.c. positive or negative polarity. It just needs the standard 2.5mm connector. Once this is connected, the control will light up to show that power is applied. Connect your bass to the ‘Input’ jack and the ‘Output’ jack to the amplifier input. It can of course also be inserted into an effects loop. Simply turn the ‘Drive’ control up until the ‘Drive Level’ light starts to glow. Then turn the ‘Blend’ control to add the required amount of distortion. The ‘Drive’ control can also be increased to give even more distortion effect. The ‘Hard’ and ‘Soft’ switch adds different harmonics which can be used according to which one you prefer. The ‘Low’ and ‘High’ Eq controls are of the peaking type and can add yet another dynamic to the effect. The output control can be adjusted so that there is no difference in volume between the effect either in or out using the footswitch.
