J'ai acheté une première carte Dante il y a presqu'un an, pour aller avec ma DM1000v2. En liaison directe sur mon mac book pro, ca marche du feu de dieu. Vraiment.

Enfin, hormis lorsque je tente de faire un périphérique agrégé... là ca ne marche plus, mais bon... c'est pas tous les jours que ca arrive.

Par contre, qq temps plus tard, j'ai acheté une seconde carte (puisque ma DM1000 a deux slots, afin de passer à 32 i/o)... et là, c'est le drame.

J'ai acheté un Switch D-Link (obligatoire pour deux cartes, à priori). Quand je branche, tout va bien. La 1ere carte est en master clock (externe ou pas, ca ne change rien pour mon souci, hélas). J'active mon DVS sur mon ordi, et là, la seconde carte (donc, pas celle qui est maitre de l'horloge) passe en erreur au bout de qq secondes... la LED de sync passe en orange... pour finir en rouge qq minutes plus tard. Le son passe toujours dans un sens et dans l'autre sans souci. Puis, si je laisse comme cela, la seconde carte commence à disparaitre qq instants via le Dante Controller... pour, enfin, ne plus etre disponible.
Si j'inverse les deux cartes (que ce soit au niveau de l'horloge ou bien physiquement au niveau des slots), ca ne change rien.

Après m'être dit que c'était parce que le switch que j'avais acheté était trop "bas de gamme", j'en ai acheté un qui supporte officiellement les protocoles STP, DiffServ, NTP et autres qui sont nécessaires pour que le Dante fonctionne au mieux. Ca n'a rien changé.

J'ai également branché les deux switch afin de faire deux réseaux DANTE (un primaire et un secondaire). Sans succès, meme résultat. J'ai essayé avec mon Mac Pro (donc un autre ordi), meme résultat. Le problème ne vient pas forcément aussi vite mais il arrive au bout de quelques minutes et encore plus vite quand je souscris des signaux de l'ordi vers la DM1000.

J'ai testé toutes les variations de latence... tous les réglages possibles (enfin, je crois)... j'ai changé mes cables... bref, si quelqu'un a une idée...

As-tu configuré le QOS sur le switch (comme recommandé sur le site Audinate) ?

Certains switch ne te permettent pas de régler leurs protocoles de QoS (et puis duquel parlons nous ?v:-D DiffServ ? STP ? NTP ?) mais en l'occurence je me suis fendu d'un switch manageable permettant de régler cela ! et ca n'a rien changé...


SAUF, que depuis, j'ai trouvé une solution ! Il faut asservir les DEUX cartes sur une horloge externe, celle de la DM1000 (même si la DM1000 est, elle même, asservie sur une autre horloge..), et en mettre une en Preferred Master quand même ! Et là, ca marche.... du moins entre les deux cartes. Ensuite, il faut effectivement des switchs de bonne qualité, des câbles de bonne qualité (sans même parler du fait qu'il faut qu'ils soient en Cat5e/5+ au minimum... Cat6 à préférer...) pour que des ordis ne décrochent pas.

J'avais considéré cette option comme naze car le Dante Controller semblait annoncer cette action comme une "erreur" dans les Events... alors qu'en fait, le message qui suit ce réglage est simplement une mise en garde de bien les synchroniser sur la meme horloge si on est réglé en Synchro Externe.

Il ne manque plus qu'un stagebox a un prix raisonnable (pour l'instant, les prix des stagebox sont vraiment trop élevés en comparaison du prix d'une carte), même les nouveaux petits SB...

Je suis désolé que vous rencontrez des problèmes avec l'AUD Dante MY16.

Je m'excuse aussi que le français n'est pas ma langue maternelle (je fais essayer) de sorte excuser l'utilisation flagrante de Google Translate couplé avec mon moins que parfait relecture.

Cela semble être principalement un problème de synchronisation. S'il vous plaît s'assurer qu'il n'y a qu'un seul dispositif d'horloge maître. La façon de configurer un tel système varie (et il n'ya pas de «bonne» réponse).

scénario 1 - Votre console Yamaha est réglé sur "interne" d'horloge (par exemple 48 KHz), dans ce cas, vous devez sélectionner une de vos cartes MY16 AUD Dante à "Slave to Wordclock externe» positionnez cette option à être le «maître préféré" de Dante contrôleur aussi. La carte son virtuelle Dante sera toujours un esclave.

Scénario 2 (utile lorsque vous utilisez plusieurs consoles ou d'un réseau plus complexe). Régler la console Yamaha pour obtenir horloge à partir d'une paire de canaux () sur un slot pour carte. Dans ce scénario, il serait préférable de s'assurer que cette carte est le maître-moins un dispositif maître n'est pas à l'intérieur de la console, alors il n'a pas tant d'importance. Assurez-vous que tous les "esclave wordclock externes" boîtes ne sont pas vérifiés sur l'appareil.

S'il vous plaît laissez-moi savoir comment vous allez, je vais vérifier avec ce forum. Yamaha sont le distributeur exclusif Audinate pour ce produit, et ils ne sont un bon soutien local. S'il ya un problème qui ne peut être abordé là, alors on parle de moi à travers les processus de Yamaha de soutien internes, qui sont très forts.

Hi, Mr Audinate... Glad to see you here !

Right now, I've dealt with this problem: BOTH cards (in the same digital desk) have to be "slave to external clock" while only one is set as "preferred master", of course.

It worked that way during several hours without any pb.

BUT, as I got you here, I got some more question:
- the DVS works fine in itself (on Mac Pro 2009 and Retina 2012, iMac 2011...Os 10.7 or 10.8 alike) as long as the DAW only uses it... but IF one decides to create an aggregated device that includes the Dante Network (via the DVS), it doesn't work. I've tried using System Audio, Logic 9.1.8, Pro Tools 10 (10.3.2 and 10.3.4..), even Jack, Audacity and Ardour (yeah, I've tested a lot, I'm a kind of stubborn guy.. (: )... and that's a big flaw: being able to record using dante and monitor (even with just two channels, the old LoRo) using the Built In Ouput or any basic USB stereo soundcard would be a real asset !
I've managed to re-route the two first channels of the Dante Network using Line In (from Amoeba Software) and it is barely a way for a real monitoring.

- the DVS can't work on two ethernet link ! On my Retina, I can have two Thunderbolt-Ethernet adapters... (the DVS works fine with these adapters)... So, I'd like to have some security using redundancy... But I can't. I even try to copy the DVS and launch it twice (: of course, that didn't work.

Thanks for the comments- it looks like you are testing it hard.

I have used aggregate devices with very moderate success in the lab- the latency penalty is naturally an issue for monitoring. I have seen it used successfully with Ableton on the Mac (which was a pleasant surprise).

Ultimately the solution is to monitor more along the lines of the "old Fashioned way". Now I agree that a low cost hardware endpoint solution to this point in time has not been a reality, however with the announcement of Ultimo, and the growing Dante-enabled product ecosystem, the day where you have a good low latency monitor on the network at a more affordable pricepoint is rapidly approaching. Personally I still monitor back through the console- I appreciate that this is a "work around" rather than an elegant "solution" at this stage. Naturally I am happy to share experiences with you about how we might find the optimal method for aggregating devices.

As to your point on the redundant functionality-

It may be worth investigating a solution like the PCIe solutions offered by a number of licensees. Making this portable may be possible- it is definitely something that would be worth talking to the licensees about whether they have done experiments, and which platforms they will support for a portable PCIe solution. Audinate do not support this kind of application directly, but we do respond to requests from our Licensee manufacturers directly, and take note of general comments in the wider end-user community.

- testing it hard ? Well, first, I like to use my equipment 110%. Then, I'm a teacher in Sound fields in a university diploma... My students are the kind that like answers that let no doubt slip anywhere. So, I'm forced to that (:

- aggregated thing: in my case, on both 10.8 retina and 10.7 mac pro, using Pro Tools or Logic Pro, the aggregated device "made" the Dante mute.. no latency pb as it just doesn't work.

- monitoring thru the desk: it is fine if you got a desk to deal with, for the sole purpose of recording. BUT first, you could have the computer located far from the desk. second, if you have a way to monitor the recording with the computer, you don't need the desk anymore ! Example: you have to shoot a band on stage, multicam. one desk for F.O.H, one stagebox, one desk for stage monitors... and one for the recording. means 3 desks to rent/buy/operate. costs money and we all know money is the war predicament. IF you can monitor with your computer, you can use the virtual desk inside the software (Pro Tools or Logic or Ardour or... you name it), and no third desk to rent.

- in fact, right now, there's one workaround that can do what I want: send all channels to be recorder to the mac (yeah, this workaround only for mac... sorry) but don't use the two first "input" channels for your mac DVS, then send a "stereo mix from the DAW just for monitor purpose" back to the desk. Route them back (direct outputs, probably) to the mac on the channels 1&2. Get Line In (freeware) and "hijack" the two first channels and send them to Built in Ouput (or any stereo core audio interface with Monitors or headphones). Ta - daaaa. Of course, the total latency is not very good, but well, it works.

- on a retina, (or an iMac, or mac mini, or...) no PCIe solution can do it EXCEPT if you buy some expensive PCIe-thunderbolt adapter. Right now, I do think a software solution can be brought onto the market easily using two Ethernet-Thunderbolt adapters.. (of course, we'll have a thunderbolt Dante capable device that will mimic the PCIe Dante devices you are talking about one day or another...) but right now, they all costs a lot... the MY16AUD is still the cheapest way to go Dante.

- I keep a very inquisiting eye on everything that goes audio network, cause I do think it's gonna be the next big thing, especially with AVB... and I'm still waiting for some monitors Dante compliant, yeah.

But, it can't go like way all the time... so, I think about using my own licences... I own two DVS licences... but when I've activated one computer, I can't "de-activate" it after my job done ?! So, If I do that, I'll be short of "re-activations" very soon... Is there anyway to deactivate the DVS licence on a computer ??

I know you got temporary licences but that's not that easy... and I'd rather like working with full licences I bought that I can move (like my iLok licences... or my Plug Alliance auth system)

Of course, I've noticed your actual discount, too... I think I can persuade one school or two to buy some licences... But they'll ask the same pb: how many re-activation are possible ? As they change their computers oftenly: students are all nice and sweet but a nasty lot to gear (:
