UTILIZATION

The features are generally very good and usable for the home player or if you're recording.

each of the mini toggles do a lot to the sound and are very dramatic when compared to some other egnater amps. Though I wouldn't say the features are very usable in a live situation since none of the main features are footswitchable. I don't even think a footswitch comes with the combo.

However, it is really easy to use and tweak.

SOUNDS

The tweaker as stock is decent sounding. The distortion is very stiff which could be good for some player but for me it has a sort of midrange I 'm not very fond of.It's also a little brittle sounding overall, you have to play with the treble and bright switch to find a good balance. The clean is also not bad, very usable. I think the main strengths of this amp is sort of the clean with some breakup-type of tone. Light rock, rock maybe some heavier rock. Of course I'm talking about without using any external effects.

However it is very versatile, each of the ac,brit and usa sounds are very distinct and dramatically change the EQ curve. The vintage modern switch does make a difference also. With each flick of a switch, you'll have to start re-eqing again to get things sounding good. Which is good, cause that means that the tone actually changes!

OVERALL OPINION

overall I am not a super big fan. I find this amp to be decent sounding at best. but I think it's the versatility that makes it seem so popular. And unfortunately like most pieces of guitar gear, the more versatile it is, the less good it is at the specific sounds. Like a trade-off, versatility for tone, tone for versatility etc.

I think this amp has potential however, for someone who has a variety of pedals and whatnot, and the newer tweaker models coming out seem to be improved versions of the original.
