The Event Electronics Precision 8's are a set of studio monitors. They've been out for a few years now, but are definitely a product of the age of the home studio, as I know a number of home studio owner who have these, including my room mate in his studio where I've used them most. The monitors are active and don't require a power amp, and have both XLR and 1/4" connections for hooking up to your interface, console, whatever. It also has room tuning options in the back but I haven't messed with that at all. The frequency response is 35 Hz to 20 kHz, which just about covers the spectrum...
SOUNDS
The Event Electronics Precision 8's sound quite good, as they've got a full sound with good clarity all around, especially on the low end. They seem to be a good representation of what things really sound like, although I've certainly seen monitors do better in this category and also sound better overall. My room mate who has these produces mostly pop/dance records and everything I've heard that he has done sounds great coming out of these monitors. They don't have as tight of a high end as you'd like, but you can't have it all for this price.
OVERALL OPINION
The Event Electronics Precision 8 are perfect for the home studio owner looking for a great set of monitors without the price tag, but they won't compare to the top tier monitors available. They aren't making these any longer but they were in production for a while and there should be a lot of them floating around there on the used market. They're definitely worth a look for hip hop and pop producers primarily for use in your home studio, but their scope is definitely beyond this. Personally I like my ADAM A7's, but these are probably a bit cheaper now and are still a great option.
