Hello

Thank you Bob for your help!
I took the VF-1 apart again and looked for a chip that looked
similar to the one posted in the PDF that you sent.
I had no luck finding anything that could be opened up.
I then called the service center in my area and he didn't
think that it
was a backup battery problem. He said that the chip should
be good for 10 to 15 years and that it wouldn't garble the
screen like mine did. He also said that the chip was a bitch
to replace and wondered why Boss used that design.
He said the price for repair would be in the $100 dollar range.
It looks like I'll be spending time reprogramming my SE-50.
Its a shame because even though I think SE-50 sounds better than
the VF-1 the VF-1 is much quicker to tweak on the fly. And I had
recently spent a good bit of time programing it. Oh Well!
Thanks again,
David
PS: sorry I didn't put (teflon) before my 1st post.
