FL Studio does it all! I make electronic music and I like to create my kontakt instruments as well. FL Studio does all that. For about 200 euros you get an excellent DAW (though the learning curve is somehow different from other DAWs), some decent synths and effects and an audio editor which does great stuff (autoloop, auto region detect to slice loops).
FL Studio gets updated all the time and the updates are free!
It's the greatest value on the market, no question about that!
NB: just so you know I've had Cubase in the past (an old version, though), I own Samplitude Pro X 3 and I've tried Sonar (Cakewalk by Bandlab, which is free now). Note that I had these DAWs in mind when writing that comment.
