The Harley Benton GA5 head is basically the exact same amp has the at the Epiphone Junior. You do have one extra feature involved in that amplifier that you don't get with the Epiphone Junior and that is the one extra control knob that controls the EQ of the amplifier. This is a global EQ that basically is like a tone switch on a guitar. It's going to be an all-encompassing EQ knob that really takes all of the bass treble and I mid range in one control. This is a very basic design it's one of those amplifiers that has been a good platform for modification and adjustments from guitar and amplifier technicians.
UTILIZATION
This is the same amp as the Epiphone valve jr amp.One - 12AX7 pre-amp and one - EL84 power tube. 5 watts.
SOUNDS
This is a 5 W head that can get you a good sparkling clean tone and if you drive the volume up to full potential and you can get a decent sounding medium overdrive tone. This is certainly not going to be a high gain amplifier but you can get a good solid sweet usable tone out of this small head. This is going to be an amplifier that is a bedroom style amplifier in a lunchbox style case. It is going to be an amp for someone to practice around it and not have to go on stage or use for any type of large venue. But it is a good small practice amplifier for someone.
OVERALL OPINION
These amplifiers have been contest discontinued for a while now to the only way to find them is on the used market. They are very inexpensive if you can find them but if you can't find one a good alternative would be the Epiphone Junior head or a combo. It is basically the exact same amplifier and is built in the exact same factory as well. I would recommend this amplifier to anyone looking for a fun little practice amplifier that is a low wattage and can get a decent overdrive tone.
