Hi Fabrice,

Thank you for contacting Waves technical support.

No, you will not need to renew the WUP to be able to use the Waves Plug-ins un-less it is because you need to update to a higher Waves version due to DAW compatibility issues.

The Waves Update Plan is our complete care package for your Waves products. It will ensure you are always up to date with the latest version for a whole year. Any new product added to a bundle you own will automatically be available for you with no additional charge while covered.
Additionally, while covered by Waves Update Plan it will provide you with priority tech support, 7 days a week. Our tech support representatives can assist with installation and licensing and troubleshoot any technical issues if needed.
When renewing expired Waves Update Plan coverage for existing products, you will receive a 45-day voucher which you can use towards purchasing new Waves products (up to 25% off a single plugin price or up to 50% off a bundle/upgrade price).
More information can be found here.

With that being said, all your Waves licenses are in the latest version and you don't need to update them, at this time. Nothing will happen if you will not renew coverage the Waves Update Plan, the plug-ins will continue to work on your current configuration. Furthermore, you will be able to move your Waves licenses to any machine you need, via the Waves License Center, as long it is officially compatible with Waves version 9, for example if you will want to use it on a Mac PPC, it will not work therefore will not be supported.

Another case, in a couple of years, when you will want to use it on a new machine with an updated host application, you will probably need to update your Waves plug-ins to a compatible version. This is mostly why the Waves Update Plan exists. Updating Waves is just like updating your host application. When you moved up from Cubase 4, or 5, up to Cubase 7 it was a paid update, although you've purchase this product already. It is the same with Waves. We need to maintain support with various computers and host applications, and keep up as they release new revision of the products. For example, in version 9 we released 64 bit, which was a major deal.

I hope this better explains the situation, and answers all your questions.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.
